The Cameron Law Cycling Classic will be the host for two of BC’s top road racing events of the year this weekend in Victoria, BC. Racers from all over the province will be racing for both the BC Premier leader jersey, along with the BC Road and Criterium Championships.
The 3 stage omnium is the third event in the BC Premier Road Series p/b Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Series Elite men’s leader Curtis Deardon, Accent Inn / Russ Hayes Cycling Team pb Scotia Bank will be trying to defend his leader jersey on his team’s home-turf, while Sarah Bergen, Mighty Cycling, will be up against some of BC’s strongest women riders in order to retain hers. Mater’s 40+ leader Mike Elliston, Junior Girl’s leader Maggie Coles-Lyster, Local Ride Racing, and Junior Boy’s leader Fergus Horrobin EV / Devo pb Catalyst Kinetics will also be facing tough competition this weekend.
The BC Road and Criterium Championships will also be part of races this weekend. Saturday will have the riders compete for the BC Road Championship Jersey at the Accent Inn’s Cycling Classic Road Race while Sunday will have the BC Criterium Championships showcased in the heart of downtown Victoria at the high-flying Russ Hayes / Accent Inn’s Bastian Square Criterium. The weekend of events starts off Friday evening with the Hotel Zed Time Trial, located along Victoria’s scenic coastline.
