After arriving in Montréal and getting on a bus to Amos we have settled into our accommodations for the week, we are staying in a school and each team has a class room with mattresses in them, and it’s nice to have the entire team in one place. Coordinating the team is made super easy, and the bonding between those of us who are already close and those of us who may be newer is expedited. The racing has been awesome; this is the first time for most of us to race in a group of 170 guys. Thank you to Trek Red Truck for making this trip possible for me and to all of Cycling BCs sponsors and supporters for making this possible for all of us!

This race is very well suited to our team, team strength comes into play to a higher degree than individual strength in this particular stage race. Despite some initial unfamiliarity between us we have really started to work together and are holding our own against world-class teams from Europe, Africa and all over the Americas. Though it is definitely not easy, especially with the bumps and bruises all too common among the field, we are sticking together and learning more every day. Without the support of each of our respective teams and coaches, and especially the support from Cycling BC and our sponsors none of us would have the opportunity to experience a massive world-class race such as this, thank you.

I arrived in Quebec not knowing in the least what to expect, it was a new place, a new team, and most of all new competition. After the first day I was shocked at how fast the pace was, I had a pretty rough day and did not feel great afterwards. Things turned around into the second day of racing. We raced much better as a team, Cordell and I got bottles from the team car and we even raced as a team in the peloton for a while. I did get dropped in the finishing circuits but I was happy to have contributed and arrived safely nonetheless. I have the feeling that we will ride better every day as a team – we’ve already moved from 21 in the Team Results to 12 in the first 3 stages!
