Axel Merckx Youth Cycling Series: Sept 1-3, 2017

The Axel Merckx Youth Cycling Series (AMYCS) is coming up in a little over a month. The three day camp runs from September 1st to 3rd, offering youth three days of cycling in Kelowna filled with coaching, athlete development, and age-group races for 11 to 18 year old cyclists.

Youth from all backgrounds are encouraged to come out and enjoy the excitement of competitive cycling, and organizers are offering transportation from the Lower Mainland this year, along with billeting (families from out of the Kelowna area can click here to request billeting).

Young riders can look forward to coaching from a team of BC’s best youth coaches, including Richard Wooles, Ben Chaddock, Wes Ochitwa, Brandon Archer, Trevor Haaheim, and other coaches for the Red Devils Cycling Academy (a branch of the Axel Merckx Youth Development Foundation focussed on providing a well-organized, well-structured club program for young cyclists in the region).

In addition to coaching and racing opportunities, the three day event will offer young riders traffic controlled roads, lunch on Saturday, plenty of draw prizes, and the chance to win one of two Specialized road bikes.

To ensure the best possible experience for your child, it is highly recommend that each participant use a road bicycle (as opposed to a mountain bike, hybrid, or BMX bike) – activities are focused primarily on road cycling.
