Youth road cyclists going to the 2019 Hayman Classic Youth Stage Race from May 24-26, 2019 in Penticton have an opportunity to stay after the race and take part in a couple of development camps being put on by Cycling Canada and Cycling BC in partnership with the Hayman Classic.
Cycling Canada’s Road Advancement Camp from May 27-28 is targeted at U19 riders and last-year-U17 riders with ambitions of making it on to Canadian National Team programs this year or next. The camp will include seminars for athletes & coaches and skill-specific sessions with national coaches.
For riders in the U15/U17 age groups, the Cycling BC Talent Identification Camp from May 26-27 will engage younger riders and provide them and their coaches with guidance on making it on to provincial programs and the Cycling BC Targeted Athlete list. Similar to the Cycling Canada camp, this mini-camp will include seminars for athletes & coaches including informal Q&A discussions with guest speakers from Canadian pro-cycling teams. The riders will also be observed and tested for selection to provincial programs.
Both of these camps are an opportunity for athletes to show their talent and learn more about the pathways to get to the provincial and national levels.
