The Cycling BC High Performance Track team met riders from across the country to compete in the 2014 Canadian Junior & U17 Track Championships at Burnaby Velodrome. Our riders share some updates from the track:
Tonight was the first of three days of racing at the 2014 Canadian Track Championships. The night kicked off with some exciting team sprint qualifying races and followed was the team pursuit. Cycling BC had an awesome showing as we had at least one team in every category! My racing started with the team pursuit finals along with Kia van der Vliet, Anna Talman and Clara Mackenzie. Even though we were racing ourselves we super stoked to give it a go! We started out with great speed and pacing, but with 3 laps to go the first rider caught an edge in the track and went down hard. Two riders went down and we were all thankful that after a little medical attention they walked away with only a couple splinters and bruises. With tomorrow being the start of the omnium, I’m excited to see what more the Cycling BC team has in store!

Today was the start of the 2014 Junior and U17 Canadian National Track Championships in Burnaby, BC. The team events took place with the Team Sprint and the Team Pursuit. I was on both teams representing BC in the U17 Category. We managed to take the silver in the Team Sprint and a bronze in the Team Pursuit. All in all it as a great day of racing and a great way to kick off Nationals!

This past weekend was a great first track nationals experience. With a positive crowd and people around to help with anything needed, it made it easy to focus on the next race. Getting the gold in the Kieren was icing on the cake.
