The Burnaby Velodrome Club will be the centre of the cycling world December 27 – 30. Welcoming riders from across North America and Europe, spectators will enjoy four days of exciting individual and team races.
Kelyn Akuna, Race Director for the Burnaby Four-Day Race, said, “This is the biggest winter cycling event in Canada. Come out and see international superstars on one of the fastest indoor bike racing tracks in North America!”
International Olympic athletes and Tour de France contenders will join local and national stars for four days of energetic racing action. They’ll be riding in event types that range from fast and furious match sprints, reaching speeds up to 65 km per hour, to challenging endurance and points races. There will be food trucks on-site, as well as a craft beer festival, music from local bands, events for children, and a bicycle swap meet.
Young riders can get in on the action too. In the morning they’ll have a chance to hone their skills at a youth training camp before racing in the afternoon to see the international champions of tomorrow!
Adults pay just $5 for public admission to the action, and children are free. It all starts at 7pm on December 27-30 inside the Harry Jerome Sports Centre, 7564 Barnet Highway.
The Burnaby Velodrome Club, one of two indoor cycling tracks in Canada, was founded in 1997, and is open year-round for training and racing. This year, it has hosted the National Youth Championships, Provincial Championships and regular local race nights. Introductory, intermediate, and advanced programs happen every week: check out www.burnabyvelodrome.ca for more details.
