All of our coaches, whether at the schools level or Provincial level with our top athletes began their career by taking the Let’s Ride! (NCCP Level 1) training, which allowed them to become more active in their communities and clubs. Coaching is the cornerstone of all sport, taking athletes where they can’t take themselves, believing in them when they don’t believe in themselves. Coaches are educators, motivators and role models, providing the framework for long-term success and unwilling to sacrifice the short term benefit with unwavering commitment to what is best for the athlete. Competition and training can provide teachable moments, lessons that benefit the goals of the athlete at the very least, but a great coach is able to instill the value of these lessons into an athlete for the rest of their lives.

Let’s Ride! Community Cycling- Initiation (CCI) is the NCCP context for coaches who will primarily work with novice, pre-competitive cyclists at the community level, including participants in the Active Start, FUNdamentals and early Learn to Train stages of athlete development. The program is simple, based on a number of pre-designed lesson plans, and adaptable to the varying skill and ability levels of participants. The focus of the program is on having participants develop skills which are basic to MTB, BMX, and Road, in a controlled, off-road, off-trail setting such as a sport field or parking lot.
