The 2015 season kicked off in February with a 10-day road and track endurance camp that was all about miles and hill climbs in Agoura Hills, CA. Next up was a 12-day MTB warm weather altitude training camp in Lake Arrowhead, CA. This training camp saw athletes building up their miles, racing and building their aerobic capacities with some altitude training in the San Bernardino Mountains (+7000ft). Athletes also participated in two UCI XCO races, earning some much needed points garnering them better positioning at our National races.
Some upcoming races we have this year include Road Nationals in Beauce, Quebec, BMX Nationals in Drummondville, Quebec, XC Mountain Bike Nationals in St. Felicien, Quebec, DH Mountain Bike Nationals in Sunpeaks, BC happening in July, Western Canada Summer Games in Wood Buffalo, AB happening in August, and Track Nationals in Milton, Ontario in October. Our team has a ton of travel to do this year and we are so grateful for the support we have received and do hope we can secure more funds to help get our athletes onto the podium.
These podium finishes position our athletes favourably for making the National Team to represent Canada at other international races and World Championships. So far this year we’ve seen two members of our Road and Track team, Gillian Ellsay and John Wilcox, earn a spot on the 2015 National Track Team heading to the Jr. World Track Championships in Kazakhstan in August. We expect to have a many more names added to the list as the other disciplines seasons get started.
Thank you for believing in such a talented group of athletes and helping make their Olympic dreams come true, we couldn’t do it without you.
