DEVO’s mountain bike program is looking to grow the number of kids racing bikes in the lower mainland. While successfully growing their road program from 8 members in 2012 to more than 50 in 2014, they have seen that big a barrier to entry into the sport is equipment. With a fleet of generously donated loaner road and cyclocross bikes, DEVO is able to give kids and their families an opportunity to try the sport without the need of purchasing a bike straight away. Further, for those who can’t afford the expense of a racing bike, they are able to provide them with one to use for the season.
Donors of bikes can be issued tax receipts for their contribution. Ideally, bikes donated are in good working condition and of a racing caliber (older bikes are fine). Smaller sizes are great, full suspension or rigid and any wheel size is acceptable (small 26” bikes work great for kids!).
If you have a mountain, road or cyclocross bike that you would like to donate or have questions with regard to supporting DEVO, please contact Team DEVO Program Director Andrew Pinfold at andrewjamespinfold@gmail.com
