The America’s Masters Games are coming to town, and need your help. But supporting this master’s event you will also support youth development.
Escape Velocity pb Fortius, and their associated U17 and U19 teams, Devo and Cannondale, are recruiting volunteers for the AMG cycling events, August 27-29. In exchange, AMG has come forward with a generous donation for the Devo and Cannondale programs. But the club can’t do it alone.
“This will be our single biggest fundraiser of the year,” said club President Brian Storey, “and we’re excited that the Devo and Cannondale families will have a chance to support a masters event, given how generously masters racers have supported our kids over the years.”
Ryan Cousineau, a director with EV and the Volunteer Coordinator for AMG cycling, said, “we’re recruiting a lot of volunteers out of the EV community, and especially from the families of our young riders, but the event is so big we need more people. And so, we’re asking the greater cycling community to help out, and to support grassroots racing and youth development.”
There are many interesting roles available over the three days, everything from course setup to feed zone to driving a moving van. Individuals and clubs are welcome to commit to one, two, or all three days. The events are a TT at Spanish Banks, A road race on the Westside Classic course near UBC, and a hillclimb up Cypress Mountain.
You can sign up for a volunteer role using this handy online form. Act now to get the best shot at your preferred role!
