“We are thrilled to pilot our first-ever High Performance downhill training camp in Whistler,” said Joel Harwood, Provincial Head Coach at Cycling BC. “This camp is not only about honing skills but also about fostering a sense of community and providing an immersive experience for the riders. That’s why we built in a mentorship component to the camp so that more experienced riders can train for free in exchange for passing on knowledge and building connections with younger athletes.”
Elite athletes will be offered closed-course training and testing on the recently completed 1199 track in Whistler’s Creekside. In exchange for this training opportunity, the elite athletes will be required to donate their time to the U15 riders during the introductory clinics where the elites will spend the afternoon sharing their experience, race preparation strategies, and most importantly building relationships with grassroots riders in the community. Elites who can’t commit to the mentorship component can still train but will be required to pay a fee.
Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to collaborate with the downhill mountain bike community while having a closed training course to yourself at Whistler’s legendary bike park. Registration for the Whistler Downhill Training Camp is now open, and space is limited.
