A longer and very strong ride for the girls of Team BC today! We got a good look at the area today and thanks to a couple short map checking stops found all the roads we had hoped to and were able to plan a couple future rides. At one lucky stop the Team was treated to some Prickly Pears, the sweet fruit of a very spiky cactus. Coach Steve was treated to a few spikes in his hand for his efforts! Ventura has been a great training spot so far and we are all very thankful that our other Team BC Coach Jeff Ain booked this great house, at the top of a 900 m and 15% climb! It’s a great way to finish a 100 km ride!
This morning we left for our ride at 10:00 and did a long steady four hour ride! and everyone was stoked to get out and ride in some awesome weather! After around 50km and LOTS of hills the team ended up in the neighbouring town called Ojai. The best part of the ride was when we were riding down a descent with some really fast and technical corners. Our house is atop a massive climb which is a fun and challenging way to end our 100km ride with a little QOM competition. Thanks heaps to Haywood, Adera and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for making our trip possible. Training in nice weather is an important motivator to looking ahead for racing season, and I consider myself very fortunate to have CyclingBC and all of their sponsors helping me accomplish my goals for the present and the future. Thanks -Tarryn Cote
Today was our second ride, and first long ride. The weather today was perfect for riding, and i must say we all got a good start on our tan lines. A highlight for me today was the decent into Ojai. We had been climbing for quite a while, so the decent was warmly welcomed, and it was very smooth with gentle twists and turns. thank you to all of the sponsors who have made this camp possible, this is an amazing opportunity to train in amazing weather with my peers. -Brenna Pauly
