2017 BC Elite & Master Road Champions

Provincial Elite and Master road championships wrapped up on Sunday, as the final race in the 2017 Robert Cameron Law Cycling Series saw new provincial Elite and Master Women and Men champions claim their titles and BC Championship jerseys. Provincial time trial and road race titles were awarded the previous weekend, at the Brian Jessel BMW Elite & Master Road Race & Time Trial Championships.

In the Brian Jessel Elite & Masters BC Time Trial Championships on May 27th, Morgan Cabot (Glotman•Simpson Cycling), won the elite women’s race, making this the third year running that she has claimed the provincial title. Jack Burke (Aevolo Pro Cycling) claimed the elite men’s title for the second year running.

Maggie Coles-Lyster (TaG Cycling Race Team) took her first elite women’s road title at the Brian Jessel Elite & Master BC Road Race Championship on May 28th, winning out in the finish line sprint with Janna Gillick (Glotman•Simpson Cycling) and Megan Rathwell (Broad Street Cycles). Alexander Murison (Trek Red Truck Racing) took the elite men’s road race title in the final race of the day.

Criterium championships capped off a great weekend of racing in the Robert Cameron Law Cycling Series, as riders racing the Russ Hay’s Grand Prix lapped the BC Legislature buildings in Victoria. Olympic and World Championships track bronze medallist Gillian Carleton (Broad Street Cycles) made a dramatic return to racing, attacking in the final lap to claim the elite women championship title. Dylan Davies (Langlois Brown Racing) won the elite men’s criterium championship title, adding to his 2015 provincial road race and 2016 IP and Omnium track titles.
