JUNIOR & YOUTH RACE REQUIREMENTS

Cycling BC is pleased to announce that our Provincial Championship categories will be run entirely based upon age groups for Youth and Junior athletes.

Through consultation with many of our affiliated club coaches, a consensus was reached – namely, that having these young athletes compete within their age groups will be good for both the development of the sport and the athletes themselves.

This is the one race in the season to which the no-upgrades policy will apply, with the hopes that it levels the field for all and provides us with a consistent measuring stick for the performance of our young riders.

Depending upon the number of entries, Cycling BC may ask race organizers to combine age groups if it will create a more optimal racing environment. U19 riders will be eligible to upgrade to Elite and U23 when these events are hosted on separate dates or if numbers are low in the U19 fields.

HIGH PERFORMANCE CAMPS

Take your racing to the next level with the help of professional cyclists, world-class coaches, and other experts who have the tools to help you make that transition. Cycling BC’s High-Performance Camps are aimed at male and female development-level riders in their mid-teens and early twenties. These camps focus on the finer points of racing and race preparation. Topics covered may include advanced tactics, mental strategies, physical and mental peaking, dealing with the challenges of travel and racing away from home, bike maintenance, equipment choices, physiology, eating while away from home, and much more.

Camps are open to current HP Team members and local invitees. To learn more about attending these camps, please learn more here.
