A 10% family discount will be applied to families purchasing licences for a minimum of one adult and two children (under 19) who are all living in the same household.

Membership licence requirements

  • All memberships are based on a calendar-year cycle ending December 31.
  • All members must reside in British Columbia for 6+ months of the calendar year in order to be eligible for a licence.
  • All members must be covered under the BC Medical Services Plan (MSP).
  • UCI Race licence holders must upload a passport-style photo during registration. UCI licences are not issued without a suitable photo. If you previously registered without a photo, click here to upload your photo.
  • All members must sign Cycling BC’s liability waiver and code of conduct during registration. For riders under 19 years of age, a parent/guardian must sign the electronic waiver.
  • All members must choose a primary discipline (BMX- Bicycle Moto Cross | CX- Cyclo-Cross | DH- Downhill | XC- Cross-Country | Road | Track) and select all other disciplines in which they plan to race.
  • All members who wish to race in BC and accumulate upgrade points should purchase the Provincial Race licence.
  • All members who wish to compete outside British Columbia or at a UCI event must hold a UCI Race or UCI Para license.
  • Important note for all UCI Athletes over 35 years old: A master athlete may not change their UCI category indicated on their license at any point during the year. However, for non-UCI events, Cycling BC guidelines allow masters riders to choose what category they wish to compete in. Read our Membership Guide to learn more

Additional information

* Cycling BC “CYCLING FOR ALL” membership holders may enter in open, novice, or category 5 events if the categories are offered. However, a PROVINCIAL RACE license is required to accumulate upgrade points and advance to Category 4.

** National Events often have dual sanctions. Cycling Canada/UCI administers Championship and Cup categories, and participants require a UCI race license. Cycling BC administers non-championship (“sport” or “challenge”) categories, and Provincial Race Licenses are accepted. Refer to each event’s technical guide for event-specific license requirements before registering.

*** Members must hold the appropriate credentials to receive a UCI Technical license.

  • As per Cycling BC SafeSport and Coach Excellence policy, all Cycling BC members leading group rides or providing instruction and coaching for athletes of any age must hold the appropriate UCI Technical License/leadership certificate.
    • Failure to abide by this policy will result in disciplinary action, including possible suspension and revocation of membership.
    • Coaches in-training should select both the chaperone and the credential they are pursuing.

**** Anyone purchasing a technical licence in addition to a BC or UCI licence will only pay one licence fee, whichever is greater.
