Olympian Shares Strength Training Smarts at Coach Conference 2018

 

Canadian Track Cycling Olympian, Gina Grain, represented Canada at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and spent 11 years racing as a professional. Throughout the course of her career, she has had many achievements including,

  • Seven national championship titles
  • US Pro Tour Championship
  • Silver Medal at the World Championships
  • Two fourth-place finishes at the Commonwealth Games
  • Bronze Medal at the Pan Am Championships
  • Ranked as the number one track cyclist in the world (Track Scratch race) in 2006
  • Three Gastown Grand Prix Championships

Gina retired from racing in 2010 to focus on her most recent passion, strength and conditioning.  Since that time, Gina has worked with various national organizations to develop programs for cyclists, soccer players, and alpine skiers.

Gina has a Masters degree in Exercise Science specializing in Strength and Conditioning from Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia, a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University, NCCP Level 2 coaching certification, and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA), among her many other sports science related credentials.

Cycling BC is honoured to have Gina Grain join an esteemed lineup of speakers at the Cycling BC Coach & Athlete Conference on January 28, 2018, at Fortius in Burnaby, BC. Gina will share her knowledge of strength training as it relates to cycling in order to help coaches prepare athletes to perform at their highest level.
