RBC Whistler GranFondo 2019 Contributes $25,000 to Youth Cycling

The 10th anniversary of the RBC GranFondo Whistler on Saturday, September 7, 2019, saw approximately 5,000 cyclists ride up the iconic Sea-to-Sky highway from Stanley Park in downtown Vancouver to the finish line in the town of Whistler. After 122 kilometres of riding, riders enjoyed post-race festivities, including food and a concert at the Celebration Plaza in Whistler Village.

On top of all the fun and racing, the RBC GranFondo Whistler also made a major investment in youth cycling in 2019 by committing funds to programs such as Cycling BC’s iRide, a cycling skills and safety awareness program for kids in BC. Riders donated or fundraised towards Cycling BC’s iRide program and saw matching contributions from the RBC Foundation for a total of $25,000 raised in 2019.

Year after year, the support of RBC and the RBC GranFondo Whistler allows Cycling BC to deliver iRide to over 10,000 kids in schools and communities throughout the Sea-to-Sky corridor and across the province. As the official RBC Whistler GranFondo Community Partner for the sixth year in a row, Cycling BC would like to thank RBC, the RBC GranFondo Whistler, and all of the participating riders for inspiring the next generation of cyclists.

The 2019 RBC GranFondo Whistler was also a qualifying event for next year’s GranFondo World Championships, which will also be hosted by the RBC GranFondo Whistler on September 12, 2020. It will be the first time the championships will be held in North America.

Registration for the 2020 RBC GranFondo Whistler is now open.
