2021 High Performance Targeted Athlete Criteria Released | Applications Open

Cycling BC is pleased to release the Targeted Athlete and Coach selection criteria for the 2021 High Performance Program. The criteria, developed by Cycling BC in collaboration with the Canadian Sport Institue Pacific, provides athletes and coaches with a standardized set of development pathway metrics common across all sports as well as sport-specific criteria.

Those selected as Cycling BC High Performance Program targeted athletes and coaches will receive enhanced services, support, benefits and opportunities from Cycling BC / Canadian Sport Institute Pacific / Pacific Sport to give them every advantage toward making it onto National Teams to win medals for Canada. These include,

  • Subsidized training camps
  • Subsidized high-caliber competition projects
  • Coaching
  • Grants & bursaries
  • Access to discounted products/services
  • Educational opportunities, and more.

The athlete and coach selection cycle runs from February 1st to January 31st annually. Applications are open now and athletes will be selected based on performances from the previous 12 months. Those athletes who were targeted in 2020 are automatically eligible for 2021. Athletes who meet the criteria throughout the season may be added to the BC targeted athlete list on a case by case basis.
