Cycling BC and BC Athletics Performance Summit Goes Virtual This November 2020

For the second consecutive time this year, Cycling BC and BC Athletics have teamed up to deliver a star-studded lineup of leading sport performance experts and dynamic speakers for a Virtual Performance Summit, November 22 – 26, 2020, designed to inspire excellence in athletes, coaches, and parents.

The first summit between the two Provincial Sport Organizations (PSOs) held at the Fortius Sport & Health Centre in Burnaby in January 2020 was attended by athletes, coaches, and parents from both the cycling and athletics community. The popularity of the collaborative event is driven by a common desire of each PSO’s membership for development opportunities in many shared areas of interest such as coaching, high performance, nutrition, sport psychology, injury & recovery, and mental health, among others.

Internationally renowned coaching consultant, author, and award-winning university professor – Dr. Wade Gilbert will headline the Virtual Performance Summit as the keynote speaker. The rest of the summit’s speaker lineup boasts an impressive array of other high-achievers, including athletics power couple, Brianne Theisen-Eaton (2016 Olympic Bronze Medalist, Canadian Record Holder in Women’s Heptathlon) and Ashton Eaton (2x Olympic Champion and Former World Record Holder in Men’s Decathlon) who will talk about their ‘Road to the Olympic Podium.’ TEDx speaker and best-selling author, John O’Sullivan, is also slated to deliver a presentation on ‘The Car Ride Home – The parents guide to raising happy, high performing athletes’, which will give parents an opportunity to learn strategies to improve themselves and the overall sports experience for their kids.

“The lineup we’ve pulled together for the summit is just oozing with excellence, you can almost taste it,” says Tara Mowat, Manager of High Performance Programs for Cycling BC. “I think that we have a very well-rounded selection of speakers that there’s pretty much something for everyone regardless of their sport; it’s like a high performance buffet!”

Like a buffet, attendees of the Virtual Performance Summit will pay once and can pick and choose what they would like to put on their plate, as the summit will feature different speakers and topics on different nights of the week between Sunday, November 22nd and Thursday, November 26th. A registration to the summit will give an attendee access to all the speaker sessions that are being offered.

Registration for the summit is open now and the first 50 people registered will be entered to win prizes from Cycling BC, BC Athletics, and a V02max with lactate threshold test (a $235 value) from Fortius Sport & Health.
